How easy is it to change the brake light switch, standard 2 pin? Probably what I mean is the hydraulic side of it as I can do the switch, I've never bled brakes or interferred with a master cylinder. Ta LC
Almost three years ago I had a garage change the master cylinder for me, so everything on that should be relatively free & they must have bled all round to replenish the fluid. I've had the electrical connector off to prove the brake lights work with a short on, so it's points to the switch being faulty. MOT is on Monday so i've been looking for the obvious fails first...
Un plug old switch Loosen of brake pressure switch with a spanner Unwind switch with hand then as it comes free place finger over hole Drop old switch on the floor and pick up new switch Place switch next to finger slide finger out of the way and start screwing new switch in being carefull not to crossthread it Nip up switch with spanner and recconect plug Brake fluid wont spray out everywhere and if you do it as i said there should be no need to bleed the system afterwards
Cling film under the resevoir filler cap sealing off the air bleed hole will stop fluid draining down whilst the switch is quickly removed.
