Changing bumpers

  1. Been offered some powder coated prototype bay/slash bumpers, will these fit a late bay if I change rear irons and use nut inserts for my front bumper panel. Was going to replace rear irons anyway...........:hattip:

Not sure on the front bumper as I removed the front cross member/bumper bulge, to fit a full early front.

But on the rear if its a split type slash bumper - you can use the existing bumper irons by removing the mounting plates inside the new bumper and then redrill the bumper to accept the existing late bay irons.

  3. You can make anything fit if you really want to, I have early bumpers on mine but, to do so changed the front and have had to completely redo the mounts and fittings to get them to work.

  4. any pics

  5. No pics sorry but, the rear irons are standard prototype bay ones which I have bolted to the chassis rails with nut inserts which took a little time to position correctly. The fronts again are standard prototype bay ones which I had to change the curved radius by cutting a slot bending them to the right angle and then welding them back up again. The rails and front end are different on mine as its had an prototype bay front fitted to late rails which must be in a slightly different position so I have then welded the mounts to the chassis rails. It all seems to work so I'm happy.
