  1. I've owned this bus for nearly over a year, I bought it in the original paint.
I has come from the dry state of Oregon on the West Coast of USA.
Because tree sap had ruined the paint on the roof I have had the top half painted in the original colour Agate Brown. all the way down to the swage line. I fitted all new good quality deluxe window rubbers with the chrome insert the same time.
The bus had hit a deer at some point so I had to replace the front panel, this has been painted in the original Fox Red I also knocked the dent out of the engine lid and painted this in Fox Red.
The rest of the paintwork is all original.
The engine runs fantastic, sounds nice & has plenty of power it is a fuel injected 2.0 L air cooled type 4 with hydraulic tappets it also has electronic ignition so apart from changing the oil, air filter and fuel filter its pretty much maintenance free.
The engine oil is like new still golden and there are no leaks, it doesn't burn any oil.
The breaks have been bled right through so they are now right for the next 3 years. I've checked the disks pads shoes, drums, cylinders and brake lines all are good.
It has a 7 month MOT with no advisories.
All the CV joints have been cleaned out re-greased and had new boots fitted
In the next couple of weeks its going to the trimmers to have a new head lining fitted & the front seats re-trimmed. I've acquired a middle seat this will also be trimmed to match the front and rear
The bus has never been under-sealed or waxoiled, viewing is essential as you can see how rust free this vehicle is, you can also see how VW only primed most of the underside only applying paint to the large cross members, no wonder they normally rust.
Included in the price is the cost of under-sealing and waxoiling the bus. I would rather the new buyer see it as it is and either let me do it or I'll knock money off and they can do it themselves.
Everything works on the bus with the exception of the air-con pump being removed, if this was refitted and re-gassed then you would have aircon, the electrics side of it all works

£12,500 ONO as a finished bus with everything done. Comes with 12 mths MOT & 12 mths TAX

  3. To avoid confusion, the bus currently has a 7mth UK MOT. I will put a new 12mth MOT, 12mth TAX and the vehicle will be UK registered with all duty paid
its a 1978 Champagne Edition 8 seater microbus.
All the fuel lines and breathers will be changed to new Ethanol resistant fit for life and forget pipes including a new fuel filter. I'll also change the oil, filter and air filter.
I am marketing this bus as a ready to drive away no jobs need doing Rust Free Microbus. :)

  7. I would love to keep it to be honest but I need the cash and the space, if my numbers come up I'll keep it. :)

  8. The bus now has a new centre steering pin all greased up with fresh grease & so is the beam. :)

  9. I understand dude
Like you i have a wife and children myself and they come first

You bought from radscon such a perfect base project and have done it quite proud so far
Maybe the person who purchases it would be interested in concoursing it?

I went and viewed a mk1 golf for a guy a few weeks ago and it was an absoulte peach
It now slammed on wheels that are rubbing the paint off the arches and has an exhaust that looks like a steel bin

His response to my suggestion of cavity waxing it was i cant afford it ive just bought a new sound system

Im all for doing what you want to an old dub but this lad is going to ruin it

  10. I don't understand that mentality, I would much rather preserve them so they last for years rather than rag them around till they break and then just bin them.

I'm half tempted to keep this bus and give it to my daughter and her boyfriend as a wedding present, see how my finances lie when the time comes. Meanwhile I'm going to keep improving the bus while its for sale but hold out for the right money. :)
