Yes looked now and that's what they said when I spoke to Shaun - tested to Belgium and back and no problems. It is possible the supplier substituted unsuitable plastic to make an order up having run short of the "good stuff". Who knows? Maybe best to shell out for more expensive ones in the meantime.

  2. Have they been tested on original heat exchangers or repro ones is another question. You could go and drive across Australia with repro ones and barely melt a Mars bar lol

My pics were melted by T4 repros.

  4. Oh so they really are poop then

That pair certainly were, but I feel Shaun/JK are being straight when they say they've tied to melt some themselves so possibly a rogue batch, who knows?

BUT Dickys melted and he bought them several years earlier...

  6. Tis true. I did a write up on rebuilding em on the old site!

  7. Forgot I had it but Ive bought a lengthe of 90mm webasto duct and a Y piece for the propex of someone here but cant recall who.. (pattern emerging). Ive no idea whether it fits or not as not got around to it yet. Someone said early - lates are a different sized. ie mines on an L reg too!

  8. considering you still see 40 year old ones in serviceable nick, on occasions, it's simply down to inferior materials

90mm is the OD of the central duct....the concertinas are 60mm OD....the front section is 70mm

I found a company in London who do all metric board/aluminium/board ducting from 20mm through to 102, but they won't sell short lengths....30m rolls...for the bigger stuff it works out around £8 per metre....1/4 of normal retailers' price for the central duct, assuming you can find 24 other buyers for the stuff you don't use.....

  9. What do you mean by front section?

  10. from the front cross member to the totem

  11. Gotcha. Its a steel duct one early-lates and x overs. removed some of mine when I fitted the blower

  12. is that a late early late, or late, late, early? I haven't checked lately....

My original central tube has a long recessed ridge on the top side , apart from helping to miss various steel tubes does it have any relevance on heating efficiency ?, does it help keep the left and right hand heat surges coming in from the rear Y section so the don't battle with each to get the heat up quicker .

  14. It's just for clearing the conduit...
I'd like to imagine surges of glorious heat vying desperately to be the first to reach the demister vents...but sadly, it's a mere fart in the wilderness
