Castors, Dolly

    Im going to build some castor legs for a shell tomorrow, I have the castors off eBay I am going to make them to bolt where the beam fits and on the rear torsion cover holes, any recomendations re hight, design, materials ect, pics would be good as I cant find any on google, cheers

  4. Hi Pie, Have a look at my Lottie restro thread. Considerations; lower the better to get in garage and work on top. Close together is better for manoeuverability. My timber crossbar supports for the castors also made with overhang to use as legs when tipping on side. Welding a nice solid frame for castors good if you will use it many times but for me timber allows easy modification when mounting on different parts of the chassis. Hope this is is of some use.     thanks Martin, i am more a metal man but good advise about the height, i need to get it onto a trailer for painting but will get her as low as poss

  6. Hi Pie, Aah you probably need to disregard the 'as low as possible'. If you are putting it on a trailer then you need to avoid grounding front and rear when loading.
