With the engine out it must make sense to remove the firewall and the fuel tank, certainly if you are planning to do a load of welding in there. Good opportunity to check out the tank for rusting inside and out and the tank shelf may be rusted, replace the filler hoses and all breather rubber pieces. you get the idea.
That doesn't look all that high to me, I've heard people complain about how 'dangerously high' the vans have to lift but if you don't need to block axle stands it should be safe enough surely. Out of interest (I'm about to give this a go myself too) where did you place the stands? They look too far in to be on the jacking points.
Take the bumper and towbar off.. then ramps will work .. and if you need a bit more height use the jack under the suspension tube to lift it a little more while the wheels are on the ramp. Safer than axle stands when you are pushing and heaving.
Its lifted higher than ramps and the stands are under the suspension tube. To be honest I use ramps aswell but need stands to clear everything. I am not a great fan of just ramps when I am under the van so I use stands which I feel are safer.
Cool thanks. I don't have ramps but several jacks and stands, hopefully the combination of them will suffice
