Carbs, Empi, weber or rebuild? t4 1800

  1. Hi
I have a very tired 1800 solex twin carb system on my bus that have had a rebuild kit but still go out of tune very quick.

Do I send them for full rebuild (if so where and how much)?

    Buy a single weber

    Or buy a single empi.

Pros and cons plus buying advice and tips much appreciated, I am on a very tight budget.

If I go for a empi/weber can i still run a vacuum dizzy or do i need a 009? Does it effect the brake servo system?

Your sad old carbs which can be tuned up but go out of tune will still do better than any single centremount carb on a cold day on a t4.
And the empi/weber does have a vacuum feed for the distributor.

But the air preheat and manifold heating you will need to fit to make the T4 run well with the centremount is a lot of faff and custom engineering.

Look at which bits of your carbs and linkage are wobbly and fix them.
And save up for a pair of carburettors.

  3. How much did that cost ya dubster?

  4. weber progressive does have vac take off for dissy.

Dells are the way to go!

  5. that said i ran a progressive on mine for about 20 years, changed back to rebuilt pdsits at one point and they were awful. Ive fitted dells now but the weber is a cheap and cheerfull option that has its drawbacks but its a compromise and mine was very reliable. Ive kept it as a spare just in case.

Had my original carbs refurbished by Carb Care. Quick turnaround but £240 inc postage.
I had JK progressive Webber car on my 2000 cj engine it worked fine, but had linkage issues as my bus is an auto.
Progressive for sale on this site, just sat in garage so pm me if interested.
