My 2.0l Auto bus had a webber progressive fitted a few years ago, but the throttle has always been a problem.
This is because the original bar system was replaced with a cable, which isn't up to the job.

I am so sick of broken cables, that I am considering going back to original solex carbs / linkage.
I thought it best to have carbs refurbished before fitting, but Carb Exchange who were recommended are not accepting orders for 5 weeks !

Comments regarding my proposed change / re-instatement appreciated, together with any names of alternative carb rebuilders / refurbishers.

    Cheers,:(

  2. Why is it snapping?
Post a picture, it may be obvious (it may not!)
All throttles operate by cable so that may not cure it.
I suspect a dodgy carb connection, Dellorto do a much better one that's fits Webers I believe.
I had to make my own for my Weber 32/36.

It's as much down to insufficient throttle movement to allow the carb to open fully and a very stiff pedal.
Seem unable to download pictures ( computer retard ), but the original linkage was a bar from kickdown lever on gearbox to carbs, which has now been replaced with a fabricated bracket that holds a short cable from kickdown lever back to carb.
I was convinced to get a Just Kampers EMPI progressive "Webber" carb kit, but with the Auto box, it just seems wrong.
I never have had full throttle opening since it was "improved "and think going back to original set up might be best / most reliable.
Have you any suggestions for carb check /rebuild ?

    Cheers, Keith.

  4. On an Auto I'd honestly stick with stock. IMHO.
The 2.0l was well sorted by the end and everyone I've spoken to said that the Auto is best left stock(ish)
@rickyrooo1 has one I'm sure he'll be full of it (and advice) ;)
I guess you still have the old set-up, if you do then I would go back to it and flog on the Weber to recover your costs.
I've heard good things about these people but have never used them myself. http://www.gowerlee.dircon.co.uk/
