Carb vacuum take offs

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Buddy Hawks, Mar 7, 2014.

  1. Hello

Got my carb all set up nice, but I've got two vacuum pipes coming out the side, one just by the bypass screw and one one the throat/manifold.

I know one would be if i had a vacuum advance distributor (which i hope to reinstate one day), what is the other one for ?

They both have a small length of pipe with a screw in the end, is there anything better/neater out there to block theses off as sometimes the screw falls out and it stalls and i don't really want to just shove another screw in a pipe

Can you join the two together

    Cheers

  2. manifold goes tp air cleaner box, other one goes to vac can on dizzy or block it off if no vac....short length of vac pipe with a stainless socket head bolt is the best way to plug the take offs...don't join the two together....your carb will get very confused

  4. I think mine were looped together at one stage! Didn't seem to make much difference!

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

No don't loop them together, it's std procedure to block them up with a piece of pipe and a screw. :)

  6. Like zed says, don't loop them. I think when I brought my bus, the pipes were looped and caused some problems.
