Actually a surprising number come back because the driver is unable to drive from a medical condition or in hospital from a non driving accident.
Just thinking this through... the carb back firing, would this been because the mix hadn’t been set right? I’m not sure what caught but all fuel hoses are correctly tight (I check every trip) and nothing was near the carbs when I set off. Could it be excess fuel near the air filter that caught?
That’s fair enough I can understand that. But say you chuck a rod through the side of the engine case . The vehicle is broken but the breakdown and recovery company won’t recover it back. So what’s the point of having European breakdown and recovery That’s what I can’t get my head around.
If it’s genuinely spitting back through the carb, could mean that the mixture’s too lean. I’d check for air leaks again.
Hahaha, this has made my day... air leaks are the last thing on my mind right now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’d just love to get that on a t-shirt... bus a smouldering wreck - “you checked for air leaks...”. Of course the heart is in the right place! I can’t fault the VW community! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So as an update to this, the AA have agreed to recover the vehicle. Might take a little while though. Ant @ Kustom Revival has been really helpful and knowledgable about the current issues and will be taking delivery of the vehicle upon return to the UK. And now it’s all down to the insurers... fingers crossed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
