I joined the Caravan club last year on recommendation but haven't stayed on any of their sites yet. Actually on a Caravan and Camping Club site at the moment and would have saved £7 a night as members. Costs £40 to join

(you get cheaper rates over 55 as well :-X)

  7. You wouldn't get past the gate if it was a Caravan Club site. :))

I'm in the Caravan & Camping Club. Tend to use their temporary Holiday sites in the Summer. Plenty of choice and good value if you just want a field in the countryside with water etc. laid on. Hopefully I shall get down to one of theirs in East Sussex for a few days next month. Most folk are quite friendly...once they realise you are human. Joining the local District Association (free) gives further access to local weekend meets as well. As for their commercial sites, pretty good but I have to say I've very rarely had the need to use one.

  9. Yeh belong to Caravan and camping club, joined cos our friends belong and you get discounts if you belong and deals :D every site we have ever used has had good facilities clean and tidy and friendly staff. We dint use them all the time but they do have a wide selection for all tastes and ages, not the cheapest but pends on your budgets?? They do have rules which can keep SOME in check lol.If you have a problem they do try and sort it out and have back up to help with unusual eventualities ::).Having a brochure is helpful too,as is getting a mag every month as it keeps you up to speed on events and things going on that may be of interest to you apart from vw stuff , and you do get some deals in the mag too. That all said when renewal comes up i often say do we need this now but just tend to let the membership take their renewal. And finally no i wouldn't join the caravan club unless you like others to look at your van with a shall i say oh not a vw camper sort of face lol.

  10. If your going to stay on any of there sites you will make the membership cost up after a week as the prices for none member is outrageous.
I paid about £26 per night about 2 years ago at one site in warwickshire where my sister was staying.

We where given membership to the Camping/caravan club and it would of paid for itself.

About £4 a night off the big sites in the new forest but they have lots of small back to basic sites (loo and a field for £10 so for £6 a night.

I can't join them as I'm too nice. I find the sites under their header mostly run like concentration camps with the precision of Lufthansa air ways.

  15. :yeah that:

Will always remember having to repitch my tent as I was about 1 metre to close to my sisters caravan when he paced it out.

Just joined camping and caravan club on the site we're on and got a £25 refund for 2 days camping. Paid £32.10 instead of £57.10. They do sting you if you are a non-member and they do have a long list of rules but the sites are well maintained :)

  19. We are, but have never used it and usually book through ukcampsite. We have stayed at more C&C sites though, so I might join that...or just use the money on gin and carry on booking through t'interweb camp finder ^-^

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

Have been in thehttp://www.caravanclub.co.uk/] http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/ for about 15yrs now.

Yes the Club sites can be a bit to many rules but we don't use them as they are full of caravans with more gear than we have at home.

We like to use the CL sites that only allow 5 to pitch at once (a government rule ) these can range from being a field with cold water tap and a waste pit to anything with showers, hook up etc.

Must admit we haven't been on any of their sites for about 5yrs but still paying

some say the camping and caravan club is more relaxed.
