Caravan Club and/or Camping and Caravaning Club?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by AndyC, Apr 25, 2015.

  1. I'm half tempted to join one or both of the above clubs in the future.

Do people think it's worth it?

    If so, which one?

Or is membership frowned upon in the campervan world?!

  2. Caravan club if u don't mind hard standings and organisation!

  3. Only stayed on a c&c site once - got told off for putting the awning up in the wrong place.....

  4. Weve been in camping and caravan club. Its ok if your going to use it a fair bit. Depends what sort of sites you like. Club sites are all of a certain good standard (toilets/showerrs/faclities) but you pay a premium for it. Theres no end of great independent sites out there at a fractyion of the price

I've been in the caravan and camping club for twelve years now. Definitely worth it for me. Use it once or twice a year and it's paid for its self. All sites have to be up to a standard and I've never been disappointed. Been to loads all over the country .

  6. We've been members of the Camping and Caravaning club for three years now and as long as you stay for more than about 4 nights a year you always save the membership cost.. They are a bit organised, my Dad years ago referred to one as like a concentration camp and we drove back out again  but they are clean and tidy. Slightly nosey buggers:lurk: but chatty and helpful. Been to about five in the last 3 years and never had a problem. Oh I do store the plaid blanket and flat cap under the rear seat until I arrive on site .

We joined to get cheep sites as some prices sites charge is daylight robbery

We were the camping and carvan but the pricing has gone up and the price is depending on how close to when you are going so you don't know how much until you try and book

Have joined the carvan club now but we mainly use the small 5 pitch sites with basic facilities

In fact I am on one now

Normally pay £10 £15 a night or the main club sites £20 £30

  8. C&CC, like the little sites, cold tap and bog. Spend most the time talking shop with the old farming couple that usually run those sort of sites. Tend to avoid club sites. Good deals on ferry/ Chunnel.

I'd say Caravan and Camping rather than Caravan Club. They do have a lot of rules but they also have some sites in really good locations. (And we get age concession rates:oops:)

All depends on what you want when camping both have good sites and both have cold water/waste point sites.

We were caravan club members for years but rarely used the main sites so wasted money .

Yes some main stores can be strict on rules but then so can some private sites be.

If you do take out membership use it as often as possible to make the fee worth it.

  12. Tried the Camping and Caravanning Club, didn't like the rules and the over-officiousness. I go on holiday to relax. But maybe you have a different view, in which case you might like it. However I will never bother with either of them again.

I was in the caravan club when I had a caravan, it's ok for cheap sites and the club meetings were good, but it was a bit regimented and there's lots of people who "judge" you if you don't have the latest gear or towcar etc etc..... I've still got my red fire bucket which you had to display at the front of your van.....

How old are you Rick? Never had a fire bucket or heard of that need when we were in it.

  18. Camping and caravan club is worth it for winter/cold camping, heated shower blocks are wonderful when it's freezing outside, the certified sites are a mixed bunch but there are some great ones all just 5 units or so and out of the way places. The temporary sites can be brilliant value if you want to go to popular areas in the summer. Like everything in life, it's what you make it.
