car/van auction

  1. This is all very true since 2007 main dealers have moved back into the older/higher mileage stock in order to soften shrinking margins! A quick check and off it goes to auction if re-con looks high!! Manufactures now even target franchise main dealers on used! I've worked for a number of main dealer from volume to prestige and its very different today.

  2. Some very interesting points made in this thread. I'm still chewing things over.

  3. I bought this from an Auction at about 30% less than the going rate.

Is GLC an acronym for Glee Club? Have to say the names on the sides are far more plausible if so....

With vans I'd go have a chat at the main dealers if you know what make you are after and see if they have had some on trade in, especially at the end of financial year, that might go to auction after 3 years written off the company books - same for anyone that runs a few that you know, do it by reg year.

I'd never buy Ex Police now adays - 15 years ago you could justify it as they were cheap despite being battered, but these days people pay silly money. We used to aim for low mileage Evidence cars (ones used to take evidence to court) and some of the senior limos. It is worth keeping an eye out for ex Border Force vehicles etc, the Police aren't the only fleet out there.
