Has anyone brought a car from car base down in Weston. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-Vol...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 This looks so cheap and I’m sure the old age saying if it looks cheap…. If they weren’t so far away I’d trundle over.

We bought our car 8 yrs ago from Carbase in Bristol - same firm, different site. Ours was a couple of years old at the time and it was a company vehicle for someone before - been fine for us. The price is what you pay, no negotiating policy, once you endure the obligatory extortionate finance quotes, extra insurance BS it was all Easy that saying -it was a long time ago, at a different site….
Can I preface this with this is based on my one visit so could be a one-off... I went to their place nearby to the main Weston site at Lympsham. The chap I spoke with was rude, ill-informed and unhelpful. I'm not saying that it was representative of others there or the company as a whole, but I didn't buy the car I test drove (the salesman 'couldn't hear' a quite obvious knock)... and I won't be going to Car Base again any time soon.
I think it's about the money for a 7 year old vehicle given the current demand. Recent mot mentioned front tyres so a bit of haggling could be done if they haven't been changed. My touran when 4 years old was £7.2k but had more miles. Great car had it 9 years now.
Going by autotrader £14-£15k seems about right I called them. Full VW service history, timing belt done, they got it from BCA so can’t say who the previous owner is (private/company) something seems off.
There’s one car dealer in bristol that whenever you take a look at a car on the forecourt he’ll come out and say’ are you Tom I was just speaking on the phone about this car?’ I think I’ve had it twice from him so would never think about buying a car from him if his first utterances are a lie…
Auction houses are buying cars from anywhere, even buying them at their own or other auctions, keeping them a couple of weeks and resisting them at inflated prices.
Is that the place Kingswood way? I looked at a couple of 1 Series’ there. 1 of them looked like it’d been run into a bus, the other one smoked like a Russian soldier. According to him they were both immaculate. Knob.
Yep, that’s him. I told him I was just doing an HPI and he bought over a printed copy that clearly showed it had outstanding finance. Dodgy as feck.
Cut the middle man out and check out the motors going through the BCA auctions and go for it . I used to buy all my motors from BCA Derby ...quite exciting . Years ago we used to take cash and pay for the motor straight off ...as then maybe not now , you had 24 hrs to take it back if there was a problem ...which is why we paid straight away to take advantage of there policy . That motor if everything they say is straight seems to be priced right .
