I don't need the snail fan attachment on my 2 ltr so what would be the best way to cap off the exchangers, preferably in situ? Currently I'm loosing plenty of heat to the front because of these holes.
Close them when you blank them and they will vent out of the sides as they do when closed. I think you can buy blankers but they are simple enough to make.
i put the risers on into the engine bay as if i was going to connect up the snail fan and just covered the top with silver metal tape.
Forgot to fit them when I changed the oil cooler seals and try as I might I couldn't fit the left riser after it was all back together.
i fitted mine with a lot of fiddling, loosen the exchangers? did mine at techenders with greenwesty pulling and me pushing swearing and groaning whilst lying on my back. fnarr fnarr
Lol. If I remember rightly my dad said the exchanger studs that side are knackerd and if we took it off we would have one hell of a job refitting. The exchangers don't blow and as it was summer heating wasn't much of an issue.
gotcha, yep my studs into head are dodgy too! one is that bad i cut the flange down on the exchanger just to get thread.
I see. Cant recall ever having to fit that riser in situ but wouldnt have thought it would be that bad to do! Need to do my oil cooler seals - lts like the Amoco Cadiz coming up the street!
Fair enough. Its a choice of oil cooler off or exchanger off then. Type 4 exhaust studs are a bugger as a rule!!!
do you use the weld a nut on technique. Ive used just about every method imaginable over the years but found heating and cooling to be best its worth a few hours if necessary!
I was looking for a temp fix really as the engine will be coming out after Xmas for a little play with . It's just damned cold driving it with a nats fart of air coming out.
