Capesthorne Hall Classic car show- worth a trip

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Stan, May 26, 2013.

  1. We stumbled upon this today - fantastic location and nice event. near Siddington, near Macclesfield Lots of classics and the odd VW's. A few splits but we were the only Bay :) £7 per adult.

Funny speaking to the nice couple in the pristine Merc 300 SL parked next to mine (a personal all time fave btw) it lives in the garage and only used once in a while etc etc.

Looking at my van with its rust bubbles and assorted fillered body from the past 18 owners ........ he was surprised when I told him I use it daily, about 700 miles a week and its a work in progress, the killer is the £4 service (oil price) it costs me. Oh you need a diagnostic machine to service mine! I am sure it costs more to service a 300SL! Anyway very nice car and nice people at the show.

I did try to make the effort and polish the hubcaps , although I did get home from work at 03:30 this morning surprised I could string a sentance together!

Most obvious impression of the show - average age is 80! (people not cars!) hahaha

It is on tomorrow also so get down there whilst the weather is good.

Will upload a few pics later...

That's right near me and I didn't know it was on!! Might pop down tomorrow, looking for any excuse to drive the bus.

  8. Cool - weve done 2 events like this in the last month and i really enjoyed them! Made a change, you have to keep a look out in the local press etc but its surprising what goes on on your doorstep ;-)
One of them was a planed out 30 mile run through the essex/ suffolk countryside finishing up parked in Heddingham castle - great day, there was me plodding along and every time i looked in the mirror there was these 4 minis all italian stylee weaving about behind! Epiic

Thanks for posting - never been to this even though it's local. Maybe we should have a miniTLB line up next year.

  10. There is a new one in Arley Hall just around the corner (we inadvertently ended up being in the show last year!)

Same organiser as these. Think its in July keep an eye open in the local press, very low key but much better than the over subscribed big shows where you see the same cars all the time.

  11. I'm looking at going to something like this in the summer with some mates but prob in the Midlands (as it's easier for them) so if anyone knows of any happening let me know. Lovely to see the old minis etc :)
