Do you know the name of the garage who did it, they should have a record & will be able to issue a copy (it should be on the database anyway)
You can look it up on the internet. All you need is the number off the front of your V5, the registration number of the vehicle, then go here: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status-vehicle It will give you the current MOT status, and access to all the previous MOTs on the system (I have an 02 reg Seat, and it shows me all the MOT tests going back to 2005, which was its first one). No need for certificates anymore.
You can go to any garage with your logbook and they can do you a duplicate although they may charge you for it normally about £10-15?
Went to post office 11 months ago to tax my bus taking ,as i did the wrong (out of date) mot cert, which the staff member pointed out , i said i"d go fetch the correct one "no need ", said post office person, and scanned the v5, and sure enough , once scanned, details of current mot was made available to all , as other fella said "no need for paperwork/documents now.
I lost an MOT for a beetle I was saying last year. A garage over the road from me printed one out FOC, never even used them before so I was surprised. Needless to say my bus is going over there this year for it's MOT as they seem a decent bunch.
Many thanks. I didnt know that facility was available and glad I asked. Took me a while to find the "new" logbook though!
