Camper Jam - Weston Park, Shropshire - 5-7 July 2013

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by CamperJam, Oct 19, 2012.

  1. I'm rushing to get the early bird tickets. They sold really quick last year in a couple of hours, so we got a bit of a bargain that more than made up for the mud we had to endure ;)

  2. As a newbie I had thought about getting this show as well as volksworld

Have sympathy with the organisers as I run a large outdoor event myself which is in the lap of the gods with regards to rain and attendance

    - I appreciate that the rain did hit the event but if it didn't would it have been worth it??

  3. Yep, camperjam is a great family show. We've never missed a year and won't let last year's mudbath put us off

Good spot  Before last year they were saying how different they were to other big shows ( they meant Vanfest ) and how they listened to their customers and wanted to keep the small show vibe, So that was a load of Bull!@*# then, I was their biggest fan and tried to push it at every opportunity before this years shambles.

Last years camperjam post after the best one yet ??? compared to what their doing now after the worst one yet, Dream on coz they have'nt listened this year have they

  8. Not planning to go next year I'd rather go camping with friends.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

What with the rain shambles, cancelled headline band and nearly slicing me finger off (ok that was my fault), I wouldn't go if it was free.

  10. Unliked

  11. I think that's put the nail in the coffin for me.

Headline ticket price has stayed the same, but it's price rises by stealth now. So the ticket price has stayed at £35 (but no early discounts like last year - our tickets were £30 each for buying EIGHT months in advance!) but the £10 camping pass charge smells like Vanfest to me.

Put into context: for 2 people for the weekend and their van, that's £35 x 2 + £10 = £80. Inflation is currently running at about 2.9%, and the real-effect rise in price is FIVE times the rate of inflation on last year's.

What's next? Ticket for your dog? For your kids? For the entertainment?

    I'm out.

I really enjoyed last years. It was the great central TLB meet and I met loads of faces from the site including "that woman" and bought my Beetle deck lid now wall art.

But as shows go it was "oh" It wasn't helped by the rain but these things are only what you make of them. If you sit there winging on about it it becomes corrosive. Speaking of corrosive I don't think my lungs have recovered since Vdubgirl threw her wig in the fire ;)

Will l go in 2013?? No. Instead my holiday allowance is being spent with VWolive and tribe for 2 weeks in Cornwall.

  13. Angry of Chester here :15 percent price rise is that to cover extra insurance in case they have to give ticket money back in case half the show is cancelled even though they managed the first half

  14. This is what they had to say in response to a number of angry responses to the ticketpricing on Facebook:

I don't think they get that we don't want 'bigger' and 'more'. The whole point was they'd hit the vibe just perfect as it was, just like Vanfest had done in 2007. And just like Vanfest, they're now losing their way.

I don't think calling £10 "nominal" is helping their cause either.

Oh well, another one bites the dust.

  15. Why would people specifying that they need 2 or more camping plots when they really only need one?
What a ridiculous reason for increasing the price.

after re-discovering the east coast earlier this month my dollar is looking like it is heading to skegvegas and incorperating a bit of a holiday too, it's gonna cost me £80 to go to cj now, that's a weeks camp fees.

Next thing you know, they will be asking you to cut the grass round your allocated club camping plot

  18. I hadnt even looked at the pricing before I started this. This seems a real shame. Not only did they take the money, and bear in mind a lot of people who had paid didnt go! They now want to tell us they need us to pay more for our own good because they were over subscribed. Sorry guys but there were huge expanses of very wet field with no-one on them, mahoosive gaps where traders should have been, the headline band didnt turn up, you closed the event on the sunday....

Someone from the event must be reading this. Any of our members involved in organising it! the die is cast now so its either stay away or put up with it. Im sure if I did go I would enjoy but this is a mickey take and although we like to think were a big happy family and that these organisers were great because they had their finger on the pulse of what we wanted - well, it seems they dont now doesnt it. Its all about the cash.
