I have a job which i'm not happy in I work in a warehouse for min. wage (Marmite) I am actually a qualified support teacher for children with behaviour and learning problems but there seems to be no vacancies for these at the mo even though there is a shortage of Male support teachers :? so the thought crossed my mind could I change the insurance on my bus and do some chauffer work ie weddings proms birthdays etc. then I would be getting paid to drive my bus 8) . sounds like a dream job but would it work out as a profitable business or am I destined t be stuck in a warehouse? constructive comment welcome this is what by bus looks like thought of something like this but without the holiday hirehttp://vdubcamperhire.com/special-occasions/
I'm sure it could make a tidy additional income but you're not going to make a living out of it. Private Hire insurance is expensive and your bus would need plating etc (which probably isn't possible on such an old vehicle). Chauffeured vehicles can get a plate exemption but this only means you don't have to display them, you still have to carry them. You also need to consider liability insurances and CRB checks etc; also much more in depth council MOTs and poor economy etc.
Lovely bus mate >do a costing ,a proper one , how much will increase in ins.? be, how much to advertise ?,will you need to fit additional seat belts ,? do you have per chance a Ist aid cert?(you may need one!) what will you do if someone vomits in bus /sparks up a doobie ? cops will hold you responsible ,if you do collect- wait -deliver home -what will that work out at over an evening per hour? what if some one alleges you acted improperly ? what if bus breaks down?how is the market in your area re same and is there a realistic wage ,all year round for such a business?if you were ill ,would/could someone else drive ?is the tax man gonna know ? if not, what you think someone may grass u up ?you may need a CRB check , you may also need a big selection of music to be available (trust me ,you will) if you agree a route and person(s) wish to deviate from same , will you comply? if someone wishes to stop off at a mates house to "pick something up" you be ok with that? if a.n.other vehicle hits yours ,what then ,got a contingency plan(other than phone cops /ambulance? will it be pay up front or pay later ?will it be pay within 30 days or money on the night , ?a bank will charge you lots for a business account ,you will need a very good accountant <essential! if someone will not pay ?if someone cancels?what then ?, can you survive 2 years skint as most start ups do not make a dime for Ist 2 years ,if at all.Now you may ? think? my post is a tad negative ? trust me ,these are some of the questions you must consider if you are gonna go ahead wiv this . If u do go with this ensure you have a contract which is drawn up by a contract solicitor which is legally tight (thou once you sue someone your business name locally will be "toast") best wishes
