  1. I like that pattern. I have a small collection of vintage Heal's fabric. It's very of its time. I've been trying to use a specific piece forever but as soon as there is any sort other pattern in the room it immediately clashes and looks daft.

  2. very few blokes can carry off florals, especially vintage ones. you're not one of them. (diplomatic enough?) :D

  3. ooh, loves that! be nice as cushions on a classic leather chair/sofa. or in my fabric cupboard ;)

...and this is how my house got smaller and smaller....

  5. I'm with you on the Morris quote Ermintrude. Funnily the fabric was destined for a room with Morris wallpaper...that's where the clash occurred.

  6. *sigh* i love morris designs. i can see why you bought it, and heals *double sigh*.

unfortunately i have bought lots of things over time i believed to be beautiful and no there is no room. finally letting go of stuff on ebay and satisfying my sewing needs with the fabric i have enough of. time to start over but there are some things i will never be able to let go of (this may include most of it) ;)

  7. I really like this! How much do you reckon it would be for a full set of curtains for my '79 devon? My curtain rails are fairly close to the top of the window.

  8. will check later if i have enough of it. unfortunately, i made 70 metres of vintage fabric bunting for a friends birthday one year and fear i used this too. will have a check later as my fabric is all stored in 3 different places. :)

  9. That is a close match design wise of those in my '78 Devon (the originals) which are soon to be removed! For an 'original look' Devon they're just the thing...

  10. No luck in finding more of it, yet. Will keep looking but may have some other which is similar from same era

  11. Ermintrude most brilliant I really admire your patience and work in doing this, I may ( I say may as in may avoid doing it) make my own but the fabric I would like on its own is £60 odd quid ( deep deep sigh) , but yesterday I met yet another lovely WI member who used to upholster and it appears she may make them and my bench seat covers ............hmmmmm feels a bit wrong. I am well known for cutting corners and have the patience of a non patient person, it would end up with seams stuck up with wood glue if I tried

  12. haha! sounds great, she'll probably enjoy doing it. i really enjoy sewing and find it relaxing, at the moment i'm making new curtains for the dining room.
yup, fabric is ridiculously expensive, over the years i dread to think how much i've spent but i do now have a house filled with lots of cushions and curtains! :D I have three sets for the camper and there will be more as i make up sets that i think "i want them for my camper".... oops. Just need a bigger house with lots of windows to dress :D

  13. still not found any more - i haven't given up hope as there's a lot to search through. i have become great at stashing stuff everywhere over the years

  15. Hi Ermintrude :hattip: ,am after a set of Red and white 1 inch gingham for my late bay. Can you help  ,i need them for the 20th june  . My sister is having my bus for her wedding car :) and i need fresh curtains.

  16. i don't have any red gingham at all, sorry. would have to buy it in and with the cost of making and postage on top of that (+ linings?) they would be more expensive than my usual ones i already had the fabric for.

the linen red stripe ones (first pic on thread) are very nice and different from the ubiquitous gingham ;)

  17. Ok i know gingham is everywhere and i have had a good look at the burgundy stripes and like them. They go more with my bus i think. The red stripe are nice, but just not sure. What other patterns do you have in burgundy.

  18. ok, i have this fabric but there is not enough to do the cab curtains in one continuos piece each, therefore each would need a seam. I don't like to put seams down them but will make it gorgeous. Obviously these will be covered if you want them lined.

the checks are larger than one inch (i'm not at home so can't check) but are about 2.5". It's a proper woven curtain fabric and therefore a better quality cotton than the poly/cotton printed gingham you'll usually see.

I will be able to do a set for you (if my workings out are correct after a large G&T) with 2 cab curtains at 70" x 21" and 5 curtains at 45" x 21" - you must check that these sizes fit! I will need to recheck the fabric size once i get home, just to be sure.

Let me know (wish i'd brought my sewing machine and fabric away with me :( )

  19. That looks great  ,just make the full set - the cab ones,i don't care about the cab ones.
Am sure its 22" drop though?
I will do a final messure in the morning and let you know.
Is paypal ok and how much for your wounderful good work.

  20. First thing is to MEASURE. i use a 21" drop so they don't dangle in your cooker/work surfaces but if you prefer 22" i'll have to re-do my workings out - just measure up first and see what you think to 21".
I will need to do the final workings out when i get home next weekend and once we've worked out that i have enough fabric we can sort out the horrible £ stuff then. rest assured i'll always make it a good price :)
