Calling all Stateside members (especially anyone in or near FL)

  1. I'm going to visit my sister in Florida in the summer, and I can't pass up the opportunity to try and stash a few bus parts in my luggage for the return journey (small items only) so I was wondering if there were any decent aircooled scrapyards or second hand parts dealers in the south east, preferably in Florida? I tried The Samba but I'm not having much luck.

Long shot I know, but don't ask, don't get......

like they're going to give away their secret stashed lol
got to say from extensive driving around florida i never spotted any, but i bet there are some tucked away!
have you tried googling scrap yards in florida then google earthing the locations to see whats there? it'll take a long time but you might find a gem!!!

  3. me too - never seen anything driving in florida and i even made a concerted effort in california last year but any places were too far off the beaten track for me to legitimately divert to without incurring mrs mabels wrath

  4. This is why I'm trying to start sorting this out now - rather than trawling round scrappies on the off-chance that they might have a VW, that just happens to have what I want. I'd like some cab opening quarterlights, and as they seemed to be standard equipment in stateside bays, I thought it'd be a lot easier to find some over there.

  5. baybirmingham - what about this http://www.type2.com/rescue/us/fl.html

lists t2 owners in florida a la TLB. if you find a couple near to where you are staying their email addresses are listed and you could mail them for advice r any breakers in the area. you never know they may even be able to source what you want to save you the effort of wasting some of your holiday in a scrap yard.
