Hello it’s been almost 2 years since I was last on here, my bus is almost back on the road. I am wanting to renew my front brakes. I have had a quotation from a company to strip/ rebuild my existing calipers for £160 New calipers from VWH and JK are around £100 each and A h Schofield have top quality £130 each and repos £70 each Veewee have some at £57 each and a 15% discount this weekend Would I be a fool buying the veewee cheapest option?
you can get a complete rebuild kit (pistons, seals, o rings) for around £40 off eBay that will refurbish both calipers, providing they can be rebuilt. We have just done ours and its not too difficult a job to do, possibly an hour each on a good day. That doesn't include painting them. Here they are: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-Br...600506?hash=item41cc212cfa:g:ZkkAAOSwY45URSOS ** the kit above is for ATE Calipers, they differ from Girling.
I rebuilt one of mine. Didn’t paint it though as not fussed about all that stuff. New piston & seals about £40 - £50 for both sides
In Practical Classics magazine they are always the go to people they seem to recommend. I thought they did returbs too but can't see the link on my phone.
Thanks for all of your advice and links. In the end a ordered a set of veewee, it included anti squeal shins and pad fitting kit for £97 delivered. I will rebuild the old calipers when I find time and then sell them on
