Tight arse. You’ll probably make your own silicone rocker cover gaskets too. :)

  2. yeah, you see i'm not that clever and i don't have free stuff from work (well, nothing of use fixing up an old bus) so i just bought the kit.

    :)

I prefer cork as it feels nicer

Seriously, not dissing the Butty's Bits linkage at all, having the bits on the shelf and being able to have a go myself and succeeding means I have more pennies to mend the bus when something else breaks :D

Don't tell work I borrowed some bits, they don't know about the roll of 3.2mm wire yet

  10. James Came across this post you made. I've just purchased this kit for my 73 bay and was wondering if you now have the pedal return spring on the opposite side do you have any issues with the hinge pin on the pedal working its way out ? I've had to buy a new pedal and hinge and pin as well but without the spring there now there's nothing to hold the pin in.

Easy ...wet knees when doing them is more the problem .

Fitted the full linkage to mine, seemed to tighten things up, return spring and longer lever under floor were key to improvements in mine.
    Easy job as well.

  14. How did you keep the hinge pin in without the return spring on the pedal ?

Yeah I have the spring that comes with the kit. I’ve yet to drill a hole in the chassis to fit it to.
I’ve not really used it in anger so can’t comment on the pin. It’s a snug fit so hopefully will be fine. If it does want to move I might cut a pair of notches in the pin and fit some circlips to hold it in place.

The return spring in the Bitty kit is under the floor...the puny spring on the pedal remains.
To be fair, the additional return spring is probably the best improvement...but all the small tweaks together really improve the pedal response.

  17. Thx all. I've purchased a new pedal assembly but think I've got the wrong pin so will get the pin with the recess in the middle along with the pedal spring. I wasn't sure if you removed this spring because you've got one now on the cable side but if it keeps the pin I'm sure it won't hurt. I take it the spring is the long one that runs the length of the pedal ?

It was indeed a relatively easy techenders job as it turned out, with a bit of fettling as my pedal was a bit bent (and a groundsheet avoided wet knees!)
Must say, I love the whole kit - a vast improvement on my original wobbly, loose, throttle linkage and pedal. Thumbs up from me.

It takes up alot of the slack which helps ..and can be adjusted to suite foot .

  20. So I've now fitted my buttys throttle kit and its transformed the throttle response. The original throttle shaft was well and truly knackered. The only mod I had to make was redrill the holes for the accelerator pedal hinge to a line it straight with the shaft. The only job I have now is to fit the throttle spring on the cable side of the shaft. Does anyone have any pics of where they located it. Ive not found any easy places to drill a hole for the spring to locate.
