They also had an arcade machine with the Sooty and Sweep band in, including my arch enemy Soo

Didn’t Minehead beach have a concrete ‘swimming pool’ that filled at high tide for use at low tide?

I’ve never been to either :(

We had our own caravans on two exclusive sites in wales. Lush they was, we never mingled with the riff raff! :hattip::chewie:

  10. They were called saltwater 'lidos' back in the day
    (Have a search , I'm on mi phone so can't do a link ..)
I remember one in Scarborough , great fun with slides , fountains and diving boards . Outdoor changing rooms and footyball turnstiles on the entrance !
The structure was concrete so it's probably all rotted away by now ...

I say old bean, that’s a bit strong. We were very kind to the poor children in the village,we once took a whole bag of apple cores and potato peelings to a needy family on Christmas morning, a veritable feast I’ll have you know!

  16. Went to Butlins Skegness with my mates in 1965, and with my girlfriend to Minehead in 1966. Loved both places, you paid a fixed weekly price which included old style chalet, meals and entertainment. Great memories of simple fun holidays.

  20. Yes it did - lined with seaweed and barnacles up the walls to step on bare footed, so you cut your feet then walk back to your parents, stepping through the cakes from the donkeys pulling the kids rides along at dangerous galloping speed.

    Ah the good old days.
