Busfest 2015...........a different feel......?

  1. personally i walked right past your tent as it looked empty and spent my money else where

but maybe that's just me and the way i shop

  2. I can see the rationale behind it Alex, it's just that often at shows having stuff there is what attracts people to your stand, e.g:

I appreciate you can't take everything, so whatever you take will be wrong, but have you thought about having something there, like featuring some particular thing? Maybe if you've just started stocking a new range of repair panels, or you've just responded to customer feedback and found a really good quality replacement part that isn't made of Chinese cheese-metal? Sometimes people do like to see stuff in person, and be able to examine it and see what it's like before they've bought it.

I wasn't there at Busfest this weekend (been giving it a wide berth since 2010) but I do go to other shows where you see similar from other suppliers: just a pile of catalogues and/or computers. It is a bit offputting sometimes as it can send a message of "we haven't made the effort to bring anything".

I'm going in this next year.....I can get atleast 12 bull mastiffs in the back, and still have room for some over-priced shiney carp, I can buy cheaper online

  6. Don't get me wrong...I've nothing against dogs or their owners, but if they're going to attend shows with large crowds, atleast make a feature of them... organize an agility show around the ever decreasing number of private secondhand stalls, amateur trials where small, face-painted children are rounded up and penned, or a display where an unscrupulous trader wearing a protective body suit made from Dream catchers and Nepalese jumpers is brought down by a German Shepherd....

  7. We went for the whole weekend (2nd time but first time camping on site) we camped in dog free camping  so relatively quiet. The trucks and dogs were a bit of a pain but that's life. Really enjoyed the entertainment especially The Edwin Starr band. Yes we were a little disappointed by VWHeritage and even JK but I suppose what would you bring? C&C and the likes of Megabug certainly seemed busy though. The show and shine was dominated by T4's and 5's but who's fault is that? There were plenty of bays and many splits dotted around the fields. Maybe next year I'll squeeze the old bus into show and shine just blow smoke in the face of those redneck cousins of ours . Anyway it's about who you are with and what you make of it. Bought a nice little gas heater for the bus until we can afford the Propex :). Overall we had a great time and will be going again.

Oh and a PS we bumped into a previous owner of our bus who stopped for about a hour gassing about what he had done and how he was so pleased to see it again:cool:.

    :hattip:to Busfest
