It would appear that the shippers that I used to bring my new bus to the UK have managed to loose the title somewhere along the way. As you can imagine I'm not best pleased. Is there anyway I can still register the bus with any other document, I've seen the birth certificates you can get from VW if you give them your VIN Any advice would be greatly recieved as I don't want a Q plate Thanks
i think the title is used more as proof of ownership than to actually register the bus, it's all changed since i did mine - there's some nova thingy now instead of the c&e386 form - that's the important thing, i'd have a word with @Graham Lyall who runs midland prototype bay or one of the importers off here would know for sure, worst case get some sort of letter off your shippers admitting they lost it so at least you can prove you owned it i guess?
I was going to see if the guy I bought it off could get a duplicate title in the US, not sure if that would work as the bus might be registered as left the country What a mess.....
Have the shippers got it registered on the nova system, if they have it's not a big issue, if they. Haven't you technically haven't brought it into the country on paper. You will need a proof of age certificate which you can get from Germany but will take some time 6-12 months on average , you could ask for the seller to get you a new title but it may be tricky as they have to personally go to the dmv and are sometimes asked to present the vehicle for inspection, I would be strongly encouraging the shippers to find the paperwork
Well I certainly am trying to get them to find the paper work. It has passed through customs so hopefully I'll be getting the nova in the post at some point soon.
