Broken Propex Brrrrrrrrr

I've had a search for propex problems but can't find anything about an internal fuse which I'm sure I remember someone on here talking about.

My propex was working fine and I took all the leisure wiring out to put it into looms and tidy it up a bit. The problem is that I "might" have connected the propex supply before I threaded the thermostat wires through the cupboards and up to the thermostat. When I switch it on I get absolutely nothing, no lights and no noise. I've checked the gas and even fitted a new bottle to make sure I have gas. I've checked the supply into the propex and that is 12.5 v.
Does anyone know if this 'internal' fuse is a figment of my imagination and if it exists can it be seen on this picture.
    Thanks

  2. I've always fitted an external inline fuse to my propex heaters but don't recall anything about internal ones.

Firstly thanks for your help and pics.

To give you an update and for info to the forum:
I spoken to propex today and they said they think I've blow a hidden fuse on the circuit board inside the heater.

It's simple to remove and I've now sent it off to propex in southhampton for a new fuse to be fitted, and it's FREE! [IMG]

Hopefully that should be the problem fixed ! [IMG]

    Cheers

Thank you for the help @Sir Arthur it all checks out and my fuse has the same ratings as the one you linked to. Just ordered one.
Once I get it is it just a simple soldering job or are there any potential pitfalls I need to be aware of?

  6. Just make sure it's not connected to your battery until all the wiring's in place. I blew mine when I rewired the thermostat without pulling the external fuse that my guy installed in the system. Schoolboy error.

I've been told that the older models would require soldering but on mine the fuses just pulled out and pushed in.

You'll know if it was that fuse pretty quickly because as soon as you reconnect everything the unit will give a little "sigh".

Cheers Ken, that thread also talks about a reset switch but my model doesn't have such a handy thing.

Thanks for that, I think I've probably done exactly the same thing, idiotically connected the feed in and then shorted it out fitting the thermostat wires. Here's hoping anyway. I know what you mean about the 'sigh' mine does it when I first switch on the leisure power switch.

    IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much @Sir Arthur for your spot on advice. I had to do some electric welding to remove the old one and fit the new one. For some reason it was all covered in some type of silicon sealant as well.

Fitted it back into the van and it works a treat, I'm a happy bunny now, going camping somewhere tomorrow. :)

  10. Proper Job!

Yes I'm well pleased with myself.

Also I ordered two fuses just in case I dropped one on the floor or something. I didn't so I have a fuse for a propex going begging if anyone needs it.

  12. You don't get that problem with an extra blanket :D
