Broke the drain valve off my westy's water tank.

  1. Took the water tank out of my westy yesterday and managed to break the wingnut type drain valve on the bottom of the drain hose.

Thought i could just weld it back on but it seems its a copper or brass valve and the tap bit is steel.
I'm assuming it was a tight interferance fit or something but i'm not 100% sure.

Any ideas how to fix it?

I have seen a few stuck on with araldite glue

  3. Hmm, that sounds like it might have to do.

  4. You could braze it together or Silver solder, all you need is a blow lamp, flux and of course, brazing rod or silver solder.

  5. Not got any of those unfortunately. Think i've got some of that plastic metal stuff that says once its set its as hard as metal and can be drilled etc.

Getting it hot enough to braize might melt the tank anyway. Do you actually use it? I wouldn't.

  7. On mine the tap is screwed into the tank the same as the pump. The pump says it is a 5/8" male thread. Could you fabricate something to replace it ? Maybe your tank is different. Mine is on a Berlin.
Sorry if this does not help.

  8. Heres a piccy stolen off the earlybay forum with the wingnut shaped bit on the bottom of the drain pipe:

  9. Ah ok sorry, different set up :(

  10. Fixed it by drilling a hole through 2 sides of the thing and using some copper wire i had to tie it on.

May add some epoxy metal stuff when its back in the bus.
