Brakes parts bin special?

  1. I removed one of the front brake hoses on my bay and instead of it being a female end on each end it was one male and one female. It said GM on it (like vauxhall?) It was also an inch longer than the VW one.
The nut on the hard line on one side also couldn't be undone with an 11mm spanner as it was square and a 3/8" spanner needed to be used.

Seems like someone didn't have the right bits so just raided their spares box.

Was there an adaptor on one end then?

  3. No adapter just the wrong hose with the wrong end.
Front flexies have a solid line a each end so they must have just used a nut on the solids that fitted the flexy.

  4. you have had it 10 years to discover that ,you my friend are the current bad owner...;)

Now I'm no expert on this, but if i was expecting a female on the end if of my flexible hose but it turned out to be male, my desire to shove the appropriate male bit into the appropriate female bit would be very much diminished.

If your hose was made in Thailand I can see how it indeed could look female, but have male plumbing, or perhaps vice versa.
