I have always put a bit of copper slip on pivots and touching faces that move on drum brakes and a smear on the back of the pads on discs.
Talking to a old guy and he said don't as it attracts brake dust and makes it worse just leave it all dry.

So what do you do ?

  2. brake pads always have a dab of copper slip on the back. There's going to be dust flying around anyway, I can't see that it would create less problems putting pads in without it.

  3. As another "old guy" I've always used copper slip on the brake pivot points...especialy on the adjuster for the rear shoes. No problems, certainly wouldn't leave them dry. Oh yes and a smear on the back of the pads as well .

  4. Me too, when in the motor trade as an apprentice, was taught to put copper slip on adjusters and backs of pads etc

  5. I always use it

  6. It's fine to use copper grease. Ignore the old geezer.

  7. I do it all the time with adjusters and pads even a tad were the pad slides on the carrier as mine stick on the jeep
