Brake servo

  1. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I'm about to do a Brazilian servo retrofit on an prototype bay, the parts are cheaper and it'll more as Vw did themselves though I'll have to weld a mounting bracket to the beam.
Jims look good for splitties? Also could be a good out of the way option for the steering rack converters or the non-welders amongst us.

  2. I looked seriously at this, but never got round it. Looks pretty good and is the only dual-circuit piece of kit I've found.

  3. Seems pretty pricey, compared to a scrap yard job, but I guess it's guaranteed...it won't "double the braking effect of your current brakes" though, just require less pedal pressure for the same output...
I did a servo conversion on my old Mini 1380 about 20 years ago....faffed around for ages trying to find the correct unit and M/Cyl...had a chat with a mechanic, who said any old servo "about the right size" will do...and he was right....fitted a remote unit off a Rover...bit of a lash-up, but worked a treat

  4. use a direct acting servo setup like on later type 4 bays just need a bracket welding to the beam and bobs your unkle, remote servo's havent been used on production cars since the 70's as there more complected and more likely to fail.
i've used a golf servo's with pushrod extensions on my split and bay and both have super light modern car brakes even with disk front and rear
