  1. Any you guys know if an August 71 bus should have a say, rubber stop fitted to underside to stop brake operating assembly banging off the floor underside?i have recently fitted a new mega return spring to pivot shaft so pedal assembly is as said ,thou looking at the system ,to my way of thinking ,if I fit a "stop" that moves pedal thru a few degree of arc on shaft therefore push rod play(Imm) is gone<not good ,and if I adjust rod it no longer meets Bentley book measurement spec(106mm)<which at the mo I don"t really see point of ,inso much if the Imm play is provided for ,why the big deal re this specific rod leangth but I can"t see the designers allowing the pedal assembly rod to batter off floor underside?so.. wot say you guys, rubber stop or floor underside stop?

  2. I have a sept '72 which has a rubber block fitted to the underside of the cab floor. The brake pedal arm hits this rather than the cab floor

  3. Ta mate ,makes sense ,will fit one and adjust brake push rod and write to the Bentley manual dudes suggesting an amendment (and money !)<4 me .

  4. My 78 has the bumper under the floor or, as you say, the pedal clouts the floorboards.

  5. Darn, what to do ,eh?can"t quite get my head round it may have been designed so ? not really the expected German ,everything well thought out approach. And by the way Snotty/anyone ,that big return spring I replaced ,as the original one was still on shaft (broken lug) I assume that being a brake component it would perhaps be an MOT fail/advisory ?
