Brake Lights Permanently On

  1. Hi Guys,

Just about to set off for an over nighter in the New Forest when letting my bus warm up having a walk round it noticed the brake lights are permanently on !!!

    Any ideas ??

Would low pressure cause the brake lights to stay on ? I thought low pressure would cause the lights not to work ??

All help appreciated as I am wanting to set Off :-(

  2. maybe the switch on the master cyl?

  3. I have replaced them both recently and all was working fine ... mmmmm

  4. I would recheck them before you start to re wire the grid system

  5. Looks like the front switch is fu***d on the master cylinder...

  6. At least they work so not excuse for the driver behind when he runs into you
    :)

  7. Disconnect the m cyl switch....are they still on? Do they dim when the indicators are on? Put a Ohmmeter across two terminals on the switch...get a mate to press the brake....resistance should drop...switch is good.
Try taking the bulbs out and making sure they're fitted properly...pins on the bulb are different heights...easy to force them in incorrectly, but this wouldn't account for the brake lights being perm on...
type 2 light clusters are notoriously sh*t (as you probably know) as are replacement brake light switches:rolleyes:

  12. I had a problem with my brake light switches on Tilly find the defective switch, disconnect the plug and fold over or break off the spade for the live input, your lights will work on one switch and kt doesn't matter about breaking off the spade you are going to replace that switch anyway aren't you?
