Brake fluid reservoir for brazilian bay servo upgrade?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by vanorak, Oct 1, 2014.

  1. Hi @Alex VW Heritage ....am I right in thinking I'm going to need a new lower reservoir if I'm going to fit a Brazilian Servo? Will I need any other parts (other than the servo itself, M/cyl, hose, non return etc.?) Manifold is already drilled/tapped
    Thanks in advance....

    PS/are the reservoirs in stock?

  5. OK...maybe you haven't....but after much harranguing on here a while back, I was forced to post some pics to 'prove' my ownership.... 2014-01-05 23.18.24.jpg

little did i know that I should have also included a selfie holding up a copy of today's newspaper as further proof

    Nice bus.
    Yes new reservoir.
The vac fitting on the brazzy servo has a non-return valve built in - saved you £20. :)
Brake pipes move to the other side of the beam. One you can cut short, other needs replacing to the front T.
Same thing with brake light wiring, re-use the switches
You need a new pedal push rod and lock nut, Heritage sell them but they're about 1" to short for some reason. prob fit a brazzy bay. Weldy weldy extend it.
Pipe between reservoirs also needs a longer one, try a hyraulic hose place when you've measured it.

Your bus should have a conduit/steel vac pipe sitting unused from in front of the front crossmember to behind the rear one, blow it out, save vac pipe and get a pukka installation. Also saves routing pipe through the cross members/4 large grommets.

  9. Nice one Zed:thumbsup:....usual suspects are out of stock for some reason....

  10. got some stainless left over from another job, so was thinking to use this.....good tip on the non return valve

Think last time I got both from JK?
They may do a bundle with reservoir, M/c and servo??

  12. will have another look, or try to speak to a warm body in person...

  13. Zed has beaten me to it, and TBH would be much more clued up on servo related issues than I.

  14. Danke Schon....

  15. Does the Brazzy servo come with a mounting plate? Have heard it does.

  16. i've a feeling there's a slim plate that goes with it, but if you read the customer reviews on JK, you still need to do a bit of fettling to fit a stock bracket...different stud spacing

  17. This was covered in some detail in Camper and Bus a few issues back - big job I seem to recall!

  18. they're all big jobs when you can't be arsed....;)
tbh, I've been meaning to to fit a servo for donkeys years....more impetus now that new units are available....when all's said and done you'd be looking at £150 or so and a days fettling....price worth paying for half decent brakes IMO

It comes with a thin plate that holds the rubber bellows in place, which is very handy for marking out the holes.
It's straightforward and if you didn't have a servo before, a job with a result so satisfying you'll kick yourself for not doing it before. Unless your @vanorak who won't notice the difference because he doesn't drive it. Ever.

  20. That is a super van, BTW. The best colour and the best pop top fabric. And you appear to have ripped the Devon interior out and thrown it in the skip, which is its true home.

Others will weep at your sheer Sage Green-ness. Be proud!
