Blenheim Palace 24th August (non VW) (Picture heavy)

Ted lined up with 3 Rolls Royces, 2 Bentleys and a Lancia Fulvia.
The only other Bay is in the background.

This was my 1st ever car! I actually miss it now, even though it was a bag o' shiite.

The Minis came in swarms.

There's lots and lots of piccies but you lot did say you liked them.

 

There were literally hundreds of cars filling up Blenheim's front lawns and the weather was good.
There was discussion about who was oldest, the Humber or the Old Boy and his wife.
A 5 minute peaceful interlude watching him gently walk around, put his wife in 'The Throne' then start the engine, an absolute joy to watch.
Fuel on, set the air valve, set the decompressor, set the ignition retarder, tickle the carb, two pumps of crank oil, one of valve oil for the open tappets, handwheel in the end of the crank gently find tdc and then back 350 degrees, then the lightest of spins and away it went, 100 rpm at a guess, vibrating itself to death, no wonder the old girl looked happy in the front. et

 

Fire up the Quattro!

I overtook this Imp and the Yellow Avenger on the Witney By-pass. They were doing 70 when a madman in a old beige bus flew past towing half a Polo!

 

We entered the show as there were only 4 contestants.

The Show Winner! A daily driver with 110,000 on the clock.

 

It was great, saved £20 on entrance fees then annoyed the food sellers (and eaters) by making massive egg'n'bacon baguettes while the punters paid a fiver for a small burger.

All shapes, size and ages, a real plethora of vehicular history, actually made a change from seeing row upon row of lowered VWs.
Most of the people were very friendly, except the show judge who clearly didn't approve of the noisy brash VW (owner).

Amazing that BL were turning out such vastly different vehicles in the same year, although neither are exactly as they left the factory.
