Bleed nipple spanner size on 1977 Bay

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by SeanOC, Mar 30, 2014.

  1. Does anyone know the bleed nipple sizes on a 1977 Bay?

I think that the front Caliper ones are 7mm, what are the back ones?

Also any idea where best to buy bleed nipple spanners?
    Thanks

  2. do you mean pipe spanners? just use a decent 6 sided socket and dont over tighten it. cant remember the size

  3. Not sure how you can use a socket while bleeding brakes..

  4. You need a 7mm ring spanner for back and front or else you won't get the bleed pipe on. The one I prefer is about 110 mm long.

  5. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    They vary.
If overtightened as they normally are  a spanner will round them off, so gentle grip with you molegrips to crack it, then on with the spanner.
