Bent shaft

  1. ^ That sounds a bit suspect. Anyway, the shaft on my alternator is bent, not a great deal but bent all the same. Will this cause any problems or can I just leave it as is. Also can I repair the alternator or would I have to buy a whole new unit?

if the shaft is bent it will self distruct once the rev's get up....... get it reconditioned or buy a replacement, if the belt throws off (type 1 engine) you will cook the injun.....

  4. Only thing I can think is that it was bent when the engine seized. Have had the engine in the bus since then so thought I'd best change it before hand

  5. For sure fella, replacement does not cure a prob. and do I ever know that !
