Bent anti-roll bar

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by John Clemenson, Aug 14, 2013.

  1. Hi everyone,
After accidentally hitting a dead fox in the middle of the road we have ended up with a bent anti-roll bar. Does it matter that it's bent? I've not noticed any change in handling. Or should I replace it/hammer it back into shape.
What would you recommended? Thanks in advance.

  2. That was one solid fox. I d replace but wouldn't be greatly worried in the mean time

  4. I`d be more worried about the front beam...

Take it off and bend it in a vice....

  5. Yeh it was lowered by previous owner. It sounded like we hit a rock or something. The front beam looks ok from what I can tell. I haven't had it up on stands to have a good look yet. Bending it back into shape wouldn't weaken it or anything would it?

Quite often on lowered van the anti rollbar catches when it's jacked up and down and bends it, just like yours, it's easy enough to bend back but won't make much odds if you leave it alone

  7. Thanks. I'll probably leave it for the time being. Just needed to know it wasn't dangerous. Got a million and one other things that need attention anyway. ;)

  8. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

When I had my Westy lowered I put extra bends in just in front of each rubber mount to lift up the middle section.
