Belting problem

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Phil-12, Jul 14, 2016.

  1. hi all, I've just got round to start fitting my new seat belts, they are from heritage but I can't seem to pull out the belt from the reel to start to install them. It almost seems there is too much belt in the reel.
What do I need to do ?
    Cheers Phil

  2. Usually all to with the angle and tilt of the receiver, try rotating it slowly and pulling on the webbing until you get the right angle

  3. Get them level in all directions and give the belt some gentle tugs. The belt will come out. If they've got a pendulum in, they can get confused.

  4. Cheers as easy as that. I feel a bit of a dick now.

The arrow on the spindle of the reel needs to be pointing dead upright if it's a Securon belt.

  6. They generally have a warning on then to prevent this

  7. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask!
That's the first thing we teach our aircraft engineering apprentices
