There like hens teeth ! I had to travel from Preston to Glasgow for mine and I searched for another set for twelve months with no luck . Are they for your bay ? Awesome look when on [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ye for my bay. I had all the standard wheels blasted and powder coated but I wanted a different look and to get something a bit different. They look great on your bus What’s it like to drive with the 17” wheels?
Absolutely spot on , only draw back is turning in a tight space as there is more friction with the wider tyres ! Builds those arm muscles up . . You’ll need to put longer studs in your hubs and wheel spacers too . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ha ha. I’ll be fitting a litesteer system so I’m not too worried about the the heavy steering. Am I right in saying that if I get the wheels machines to fit the bus hubs, then I won’t need spacers and longer studs?
Yes as rob.e says, fronts need to be machined slightly to overcome the front hub , my local man only charged me £20.00 and turned them round in 2hrs too . Longer studs front and back . (machine 7 ) 10mm spacers on rears.
Pretty rare wheels - last set I saw was c£700. I had one just for a trial fit, decided I didn’t like them. Suggest you also research what tyres you are going to run on them. Needs to be appropriate load rating for the stated axle weight of your bus.
I've seen these running 205/40's all round. Load rating for those is too low for a bus though so i wouldn't do that personally - highest rating i could find was 84. I've also seen a bus with 195/40 which is even worse, only 81 load rating. Ideal size would be 205/55 17 which you can get with 95 load rating which should be ok - that matches the stock wheel rolling radius. Westy rear has 1270 max permissible load rating which would require 635kg per tyre, so min 93. With a 205 tyre on the front you may find low speed maneuvers a bit of a challenge. I ran 195's on the front at one point and that was noticeably harder to turn at parking speeds. I have 185's on the front now which are easier to turn - you don't want to heave/ yank on the wheel as this is putting a lot of strain through the steering box. You won't find a 17" 185 tyre though with a suitable load rating. Finally got the wheels machined and all the trims. All ready to go on the bus when it comes back from paint...and yes they are whitewall trims and yes they will probably eat the sidewalls, but I don’t care, lol!
