Beautiful Bella Bug - 1968 - 1500cc - choptop?? converted convertible??

Bella Bug was found on a classic car site offered at £2500... i emailed the people and then ended up having a good chat over the phone, i knew she needed welding underneath and a new roof but when i saw the pictures of her i just fell in love!! i managed to get them down to £1800 due to the work and new roof needed... and here she is been with me since march!!

i'm no expert on beetles but that model looks like a lot later than a 68 to me, i'll happily be proven wrong though.

 

log book says 68?? 06 03 68??

 

as i say i'm no expert so don't panic, i just thought the lights and bonnet look like a 70's car.... i'm sure someone else will clarify please don't get upset at me or panic i'm only guessing.

thanks dog, i'm not bothered what year coz i love her but it says first registered 06 03 68... so i'll stick with this til i know for sure ^-^

 

i know nothing about beetles, it could be an 1853 for all i know. all i know is i want it!

 

It has a one year only 68 bonnet strip . Blades were on till mid 68, the lights are right, so is the dash. Petrol filler ? Mine is under bonnet, no flap believe that was introduced in 1970 ish?

nope, i honestly thought the fat bumpers and ugly lights was 71 on super beetles or whatever they call them, i thought 60's cars had nice thin bumpers etc anyway i'm glad i'm wrong.

 

yeah i know she's not a karmann...couldn't afford 1 of them!

yeah going to have to get 1 made, dad knows someone who makes boat roofs so he may be able to help x
