As I wondered though the garage the other night enroute the beer fridge. I glanced at the vee dub and my mental image was that it just needs a touch more in the width department. Currently on standard steels and whitewalls. They need refinishing would banding in an inch just give them a bit more presence? Could I use the same rubber?
It could work, it could lead to a lot of further mods needed, if it starts fouling things on the inside or outside. One inch is not a lot. You will then develop your upper body strength fighting it in car parks. It would be easier to start by trying alloys as they come in more sizes and you can then go back to stock in between changes.
Jk do a standard looking bay wheel 7” wide. https://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-b...d-style-wheel-7-x-14-vw-t2-bay-1971-1979.html
Hmm there’s a green late bay moon raker down fistral this week that I’m sure is running those jk’s on the rear. It looks pretty epic. It’s all added on the outside edge so I suspect we’ll need to roll the arches for clearance. Hmm
7” wide and 34mm offset should fit fine. My rears are 7s with effectively et25 , so outer edge closer to the arch than those steels - no clearance issues
i have 205/60 16s on the rear on mine. For those wide 14"s you'd be fine with something like a 195/75 14. Several commercially rated tyres in that size and keeps your rolling radius the same as OE. https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres-195-75-14/?s=S&t=U
205 70 14, back is fine, front needed 20mm spacers and longer studs to clear the callipers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
