It's an 89, i have a pool ball knob on the bay which doesn't fit so defo m14 thread

Have checked tonight and I have got an m14 tap but standby as I have a couple of other places to check (work!!)

Are these drilled and tapped into the ball or drilled and tapped to take a metal insert which then screws onto the gear lever.

 

Just drilled and tapped into the ball.

I have had one on my bay for 5years with no problems and also on my minis before that for about 6 years.

 

No I wasn't suggesting there might be problems, more I was wondering if I could make one out of wood but I think it would need a metal insert first otherwise I don't think it would be strong enough (my wood one, not your snooker ball one).
