Ball joint slamming

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 72crewdude, May 1, 2016.

  1. so I read that if running ball joint spindles and arms/ beam you can't or shouldn't drop more than 4".
I have the 3.5" dropped spindles on already if I fit a narrowed adjustable beam to go lower is that bad?

Is it all just safe guarding advice? I just need to drop another inch or two.

    Advice please !

    Thanks

    Good luck.

  5. The issue is the angle through which the BJ moves with suspension travel. As you lower the suspension (with adjusters) the extremes of this angle end up causing the BJ to hit casing.

However, dropped spindles do not affect the BJ geometry...

That said, for the adjustable beam fraternity, you can get 'long throw' BJs (at least you can for T1s), which mitigate the problem.
