Balance coil type fuel sender

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by sima, Mar 16, 2016.

  1. hi,

I've just bought a tank with the tube type balanced coil sender in it. I've stuck a multimeter across the positive spade and earth and filled the tank. The reading is changing but it's from about 5 to 8 Meg ohms. I would have expected in the 0- 200 ohms but have never measured this type of sender. Anyone got experience in them

    Cheers

  2. No-one with this type of sender that's checked the resistance?

  3. That does seem odd - I would've expected a few hundred ohms as well. Where are you measuring it?

  4. On the positive terminal to the earthing terminal. Using ohms law the current would be micro amps..... I think it's faulty, strange as it rises and falls when I filled and emptied the tank with a hose pipe?

  5. Does seem weird o_O
