B Pillar Replacement Question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by motorcycleemptyness, Apr 25, 2013.

  1. Can somebody please help me out ? I need to replace the B pillars on my RHD 73 bay . Should i buy B post inner and outer repair panels or spend a little more on the complete B posts ? and cut them down to fit ?
Do the Complete B posts (example http://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-ba...sills/211-809-256-h-b-post-offside-right.htmlhttp )
come with the inner and outer repair panels built in ? (cant tell from the pics) . Is there any other bits i'm likely to need ?

That's only an outer skin really, how bad are your b pillars ?

Most of what's missing on yours is the bulkhead, plus a small hole I can see in inner post, then the outer skin. I'd just get the small outer repair which is height of the wheel arch and fab the rest.

  7. Thats the most honest pic of that area ive ever seen

Normally its all rotten and full of filler
    Follow zeds advice

Myself id try and get some sort of paint or protection into the parts you wouldent be able to once its welded up
Please no cavity wax untill after paint though

I'd like to see from the other side too. looks like more patches on the inside.

  10. This is why i hate quoting for welding jobs

One patch for the mot can turn into pandoras box

  11. Am i right in thinking that this area is double skinned ?

Pic of the other side ...
