Hi. I'm repairing the lower section of the B pillar. As usual this has already been "repaired" previously so what it should look like is a bit of a mystery. I've cut back to what looks original and wasn't rusty. I've cut the repair panel and it mostly seems to match what's remaining. What I cant seem to work out is how it should looks and joins together on the inside. What I started with. Straight edge is because I thought that's how it should be. I don't think it should be straight now. Dotted line marks previous repair. Cutting back the weirdness. Looking up the B Pillar. Not to sure why the filler is here. The issue I have is. If you extend the bulge panel at the bottom (in blue) it seems to rest on the lip of the repair panel. If you extend the top (in red) it is about a 10mm difference and meets the repair panel on the bent section. Also why does this repair panel seem to have a bit cut out in green), the bent lip is only at the top. Bottom. Flush with lip. Does the bulge panel taper from 10mm at the top to nothing at the bottom where it meets the B pillar? Does anyone have photos of a original 72 B pillar from the inside I could reference. Cheers.
Don't know if any of these will help. Apart from the last one they are from the wheel arch side. In the first one the orange wing panel is actually hanging off - originally kept in place by a cover panel! View attachment 125606
And one more. The welding marks are from a repair on the other side of the panel to the top of the wheel arch panel if I remember correctly, so it might help in relating to the other side.
Thanks for those. I think that solves the mystery. I think anyway. The bit that was confusing me was because three bits of metal meet. I found this photo online which shows the inner B pillar and Walk-though section, all that seems to be missing is rear arch panel. The rear arch panel seems to have an angle half way along that corresponds with panel marked above. Well that's my plan anyway!
