  1. Not Just from Terrordales, anyone else who has experience is welcome to help.

Next Jan we're going to Australia. Starting at Melbourne down to Phillip Island for 3 days of racing then (assuming I don't crash) we want to fly to Uluru but after that the remaining two weeks are open to suggestion.
Currently thinking of flying on to Cairns to meet a friend then hiring a camper for 10 days and driving down the coast to Sydney to visit friends and daughter there (150 miles/day average). With two days in Sydney then off home.
Anyone got any other good ideas? Things we simply MUST see?
    All suggestions welcome. :)

I'll let others have a go but if you need anything just drop me a line.
Maybe we can catch up for a beer in Sydney if we haven't gone in the opposite direction & landed in the UK :)

  3. Sounds good! I have some mates who live near Manly Beach (gotta love that name) and eldest daughter lives in Sydney overlooking the Harbour somewhere.
I'd expect an ever increasing number of inane/stupid questions as we try an finalise an itinerary.
Personally whenever I've been over I've planned no more than the arrival and departure and let the rest take care of itself but Mrs TBR just HAS to have every finite detail planned out or she goes nuts.

What are you racing at the Island? o_O

  5. At this moment a '76 Foale Yamaha TZ350 and either my Kawasaki Z1000ELR or (if I ever get it finished) my Harris Magnum Kawasaki Z1000.

Is it an all Historic Meeting?
Post a link I've got a couple of friends who are into "older" bikes.

  7. It was a long time ago but I spent time in Perth and Sydney. Around Perth I enjoyed the Swan river but if you are in Sydney I would recommend an overnighter to the Blue Mountains if you can.

  8. would that make it a genuine Rolf Harris Magnum Kawasaki Z1000 if you drive it down under ?

    .....sorry, I'll get my coat

    OI!!!!!
Stop inviting people to drink my malts :p
TBR will have to become a member of The Malt Circle for them to come out.

No, most things are available via the interwebs & we do have some speciality whisky dealers.

  15. I thought you all drank VB. ;-)

  16. I spent a lot of time in Oz 10 years ago and took that route in a Ford Fairlane. I would be careful about hiring a campervan. I would suggest going with a motor home or hire car. The East Coast Rd is good. Ensure you see the giant pineapple north of Brisbaine.

I would stop off in Bunderburg to visit the Rum factory. I spent 2 month here and loved the place! Also, I thought Mission Beach was cool. Avoid Airly Beach. It is truly rubbish and also the plastic hell hole that is Surfers Paradise.

Maybe pick a few places which look good and give yourself a chance to explore over a couple of days. In a decent vehicle 700k is an easily achievable drive.

Your also close to the Great Barrier Reef. Does that hold any interest for you? Lots of towns along the coast act as stop of places for tours.

  17. Great Barrier Reef whilst your in cairns and my favourite place when I travelled down the east coast was Frasers island.

  18. Not been myself. But if you bump into mick Dundee, say hi for me. :)

Gnats wee that stuff. Since they changed the recipe & made it sweet it's horrible to my taste. I'll stick to Coopers Pale Ale, the choice of 9 out of 10 Australian Kombi drivers (fact unverified but everyone loves a statistic) :D
