    Hi guys,

Been trying to get my arial back in to place for AGES! At present it is wedged in, and the top of the arial is held in place by the windscreen wipers. This method has its flaws on the motorway.

So, how the hell do you do it? Is there a knack before I resort to the 'No More Nails' approach?? I know the theory, but can't get it to work in practice!

Bought a snazzy 2 point arial to solve the problem.....but the hole for this one is too big to cover up with the new one :(

You need to remove it completely, take it to pieces and refit. Get to the back of the radio and unplug the end and it will come out. Them you will be able to strip it and see why it's come out, though it looks to me like the hole is to big

  3. it's a bit of jiggery-pokery....you should be able to get to the back of it...the lock nut and washer will still probably be hanging somewhere on the cable, assuming it's not unplugged from the radio...looks like it's been corroding around the hole, before someone painted over it (lazy). As it's mounting on to a curve surface, I'd put a fairly thick, soft rubber flat washer, bigger than the hole and thick enough to compress a mm or two, between the aerial mount and the bus....gun a bit of clear silicone either side of the rubber washer, tighten the lock nut/compress the washer, then clean off the silicone, with a builder's wipe (or turps) before it sets
