Are your nuts body-coloured?

Just a quickie...

Got my cab doors off for a bit of a rebuild and want to keep everything nice'n'original. Should the screw heads on the door hinges be body colour or bare metal? It's the hex head type from 1978.

Mine were, but now i've got stainless dome bolts. Bit like diamonds on the soles of my shoes.

 

I'd assume that as the van was painted with the doors attached, the original screws would have paint on them as well.

 

I thought they got darker as they aged.

 

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm just off to paint my nuts green. Then I might do some work on the van....
